Instruction & Coaching now available for ATA and Olympic Trap!

Toronto International Trap and Skeet Club in conjunction with the Ontario Olympic Trapshooting Association is pleased to announce that we are now offering instruction and coaching for ATA Trap and Olympic Trap. Please click for additional information.

We have begun to accept new members again!

We have made changes to our normal operations, as well as how we offer our courses to be able to operate safely within best practices - as outlined by the province of Ontario - to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

We have begun our new member courses again as of July, 2020, although the seat numbers in each course are more limited than before.

This, along with a 2.5 month closure has further extended our wait list. We continue to process applications and are interviewing those whose interests and values best align with our organizations goals.

Our club will be re-opening as of May 19th 2020 for our members!

At this time we are still unable to conduct new member courses - the first step to joining. If you would like to join please add your information to our waiting list. We will begin our courses as soon as it is safe and within the provincial and federal regulations to do so.

We will offer updates on this as soon as we know more.

May 17, 2020

Please Note:

Due to COVID-19 our club is closed to all operations until further notice. We will continue to provide updates on the status of the club as we know more.

Things are Heating Up at TIRPC!

We are having two overhead radiant tube-style heaters installed to cover 10 of our lanes! This will keep our shooters, and their guns, hands, faces and feet nice and toasty as they shoot at our beautiful outdoor, covered, 50 Metre rifle and pistol range!

This means that our club offers you the best of both worlds, cover from the elements, heat and excellent natural ventilation! It is now one of, if not the only outdoor range in Ontario to offer heating!

If you're looking for a gun club, check out what we have to offer and register on our pricing and wait list page!

We look forward to meeting you!

A Big Thank You to everyone who came out to check out the range on Tuesday. Was a pleasure meeting everyone and seeing what great folks our local firearms community has! We look forward to seeing many of you in the future as the newest members of TIRPC!

Come visit us for a tour to check out our facilities and speak to our members to see what TIRPC has to offer!

When: Tuesday October 29th 4pm-8pm
Where: Toronto International Rifle & Pistol Club 5206 5th sideroad Cookstown, Ontario
What: Have a tour of our newly renovated clubhouse and range, see what we have to offer and meet the folks that keep the place running!

July 2019 Update

We happily hosted our first new member safety and orientation course on July 13th and welcomed our first group of new members!

We are still working on the "finishing touches" for the range and new clubhouse and once they have been completed we will be posting and sending out the dates and times of our open houses.

Please do not drop by without an appointment as we are not always on site. Thank You!

June 2019 Update

We had a few unexpected slow down's in our renovations, and are still waiting on one more key CFO approval, but we are nearing the finish line - or should I say the starting line!

As of June 4th, 2019 we have finished the second coat of paint in the newly renovated clubhouse and are awaiting the completion of the flooring and electrical work. We still have one outstanding approval we are waiting on from the CFO's office as well.

We are working diligently to get the new club up and running and to a point where we will be ready to accept new members.

Right now it is looking like we should be holding our first orientation course for our first batch of new members by the last weekend in June.

We are encouraged by the excitement and buzz that is going around, and understand that there are many people looking for a gun club and many of those people are excited to join TIRPC. We do ask that you remain patient as it is a very involved process and we want to things right - right from the beginning. Please also understand that we rely heavily on volunteers and can only ask so much from everyone as far as time commitments.

We will be in touch with those towards the beginning of the preregistration list in the coming weeks to speak to you over the phone to make sure that we are a good fit and to book your orientation courses.

We will also be holding some open houses to offer times and days that interested parties can come by and talk to us about what we offer and check out the new clubhouse, and the range facilities. As soon as we are ready to offer these we will be posting the dates and times here, as well as sending out and email to those who have preregistered or signed up for our email list.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone!

We're Getting Close to Opening!

We are now weeks away from opening our doors and starting to accept our new members!

As of April 15th we are working on finishing up the new renovations to the clubhouse and range and getting all of our paperwork in order. If everything goes smoothly we should be having our first New Member Orientation Class sometime soon!

If you have already preregistered we will begin reaching out to those at the top of the list in the coming weeks to go over the application and new member process and get you registered for a orientation course!

If you have not already preregistered and would like to join TIRPC please go to our "pricing and preregistration" page to save your spot on the list! Spots are filling up quickly! We look forward to meeting you!

Gun Ban Ruled Out For Now!

Amazing news for the shooting sports community released April 12, 2019 from the CSSA (Canadian Shooting Sports Association)

Gun Ban Ruled Out – For Now

OSHAWA, ON – Crime Reduction Minister Bill Blair’s long-awaited engagement report – Reducing Violent Crime: A Dialogue on Handguns and Assault-Style Firearms – has been released and the outcome of that discourse is somewhat encouraging for Canada’s two-million-plus lawful firearm owners who feared a possible gun ban.

“Those 134,917 participants in the government's online questionnaire overwhelmingly believe that a ban on handguns and so-called “assault-style” firearms targets the wrong people. Law-abiding firearm owners are not the problem, violent criminals possessing illicit guns are,” said Tony Bernardo, Executive Director of the Canadian Shooting Sports Association. “Our organization is not surprised by this conclusion and we said as much during the Minister’s in-person roundtable held in Toronto last fall."

CSSA representatives attended the Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal consultations.

At that roundtable, the CSSA also noted that there is no statistical evidence that the banning of civilian firearms would have an impact on the criminal misuse of guns. The only data that was available came from the Toronto Police Service, and it showed that politicians had been grossly misrepresenting the proportion of firearms that originated from our community.

“We agree that a multi-faceted approach (such as more community-based programs, enhanced law enforcement and border services, and harsher punishments and penalties for gun-related crime) is key if we are to reduce the illicit use of firearms. Imposing a gun ban ‘in isolation’ as the Minister noted, is useless,” said Mr. Bernardo.

“Our organization would welcome the opportunity to confer with Ministers Goodale and Blair and the Firearms Advisory Committee to help develop some real solutions to these serious firearm issues,” said Mr. Bernardo. The CSSA was a long-standing member of the federal government’s Canadian Firearms Advisory Committee, the purpose of which, among other things, is to provide the Public Safety Minister with advice on matters relating to Canada’s firearms policies, laws and regulations.

The Engagement Report will now be used to assist the federal government in developing any future changes it may wish to apply to firearm laws… “while not impeding the lawful use of firearms by Canadians,” as stated in the report.

"While it appears there will be no gun ban in our immediate future, the CSSA will continue its efforts to ensure the government of Canada understands and respects our Canadian firearm traditions and the rights of responsible Canadians to have lawful access to their firearms.
